Local BMX Rider Brings Home Fourth Straight Championship Title
17-year-old Olivia Armstrong was already a two time world champion when she went to South Carolina this week to compete in the 2017 UCI BMX World Championships. This year, however, she stepped up in category to face riders that were older and more experienced than her.
As Central Oregon Daily’s Anyssa Bohanan reports, Armstrong overcame the odds to defend her title and lay claim as one of the best BMX riders in the world.
Well wrapping up the 2017 worlds. I could not be happier with how I rode this week in South Carolina. I took the win for the 17-29 women's cruiser and the 17-24 women's class. Didn't loose a lap all week. Thank you to EVERYONE who has helped me achieve this including my parents, friends and sponsors! A special thank you to Treadstrong fitness for helping me prepare for this!
